FAQs

Common Business FAQs

  • Why did you start your cash-based physical therapy business?

I was inspired to open up a cash based physical therapy clinic in a semi-rural community in order to increase access to essential care, emphasize patient centered care without insurance and referral restrictions, and improve the standard of care. My mission is to provide exceptional care through one-on-one sessions that are 60 minutes in duration. These long and personal sessions will allow allow the patient to feel a true connection, make a difference and not feel rushed or like they are “part of the system”.

  • How is Beyond PT unique compared to other therapy options in the area?

Beyond physical therapy is unique due to its direct access capability, there is no need for a referral. Early access can reduce overall health care costs, quality time with the same therapist for each appointment, exceptional treatment with both manual techniques and therapeutic exercises. We strive to have the most personalized care and make a difference not only in all physical impairments but also make a positive impact on each person’s life.

Additional benefits of direct acess are also outlined below.

  • What is your treatment strategy?

Targeted manual therapy and dry needling with reinforcement through progressive corrective exercise, teaching each person proper mechanics and education that will remain with them and those around them for the rest of their days. The goal is to get your back doing what you love to do!

The specific pairing of these techniques are combined in order to achieve long-lasting results with fewer sessions.

  • How long does each session last?

Every session you are one-on-one with the same therapist for 60 minutes, whether it is an evaluation or follow up session. Dedicated and consistent personalized care. No assistants, No techs, No aids, just one physical therapist specifically focused on your treatment and the best plan of action!

  • How many visits will I need?

Each patient is different and I am here to tailor treatment to your exact needs. Some patients visit weekly or bi-weekly for 4-6 sessions while others improve immediately and only require a few visits. After recovery some patients return monthly for "tune-ups" for preventative care and to feel their best. Studies have shown that manual therapy, paired with dry needling and corrective excercise see longer laster results and require few sessions.

The short answer: whatever you need! Therapy will be  structured based on progress and individualized goals.

Billing FAQs

  • Benefits of a direct cash based business model?

Many patients have high deductible insurance plans. The average PT clinic bills insurance over $250 per session,  the cost of which is the patient’s responsibility until they meet their deductible.

At Beyond PT through a direct pay model we can offer many outstanding benefits over traditional insurance based therapy:

    • Significantly cheaper upfront cost
    • Exceptional personalized 60 minutes sessions with a dedicated physical therapist (no more being rushed into appointment time slots or treatment from assistants)
    • Direct access care as soon as you need it instead of jumping through hurdles delaying the care you need
    • Can still use HSA and provide invoice to insurance as out-of-network
    • No insurance treatment restrictions or visit limits
  • Can I use my insurance to pay for treatment?

Payment is due at the time of service, however, Beyond Physical Therapy can provide you with an invoice (called a superbill) that can be submitted to your insurance for physical therapy sessions that with be reimbursed as a standard out-of-network expense.

Beyond Physical Therapy pricing is below competitors to accommodate the self-pay and out-of-network patients.

  • What forms are payment do you accept?

All of the following payment methods are accepted at time of the appointment:

    • HSA
    • FSA
    • Cash
    • Check
    • Credit Card
    • Venmo
  • MN is a Direct Access State, What does that mean?

In the state of Minnesota, patients are able to be evaluated and treated by licensed physical therapists without a physician referral under the legislation. This means you no longer have to wait to get treated for injuries that would immediately benefit from physical therapy services.

This allows patients to expedite treatment while saving money. Expedited treatment time helps reduce total injury time and allows you return to normal function faster. It saves you from having a costly doctor visit for a prescription prior to a physical therapy visit.

At your initial evaluation, your Physical Therapist may be able to diagnose your problem. If we cannot help you, and/or we believe your problem is outside of our scope of practice, we will strive to connect you with the medical professionals who can.
